Base Layer

stir for a full minute; it will go from
a 'wet sand' look to dry again.
spread on a scrap paper to completely dry
then it is ready to store

Accent Layer

this also gets mixed for a minute,
though not all the particulate will take on colour.
you end up with a mixture of large and small bits
of coloured powder (this is what creates
the beautifully random flyspecking)
allow to dry and it too is ready for storage.

Vintage Varnish - Technique

the tag/surface need to be covered
(it took two applications in some places)
don't worry about an uneven surface the addition
of the accent layer takes care of everything
while heating from above sprinkle the accent layer powder
(unevenly) over the base and melt to fuse the two layers
let cool completely, then bend and press the surface to crack
(note *the colder the plastic the larger the cracks)

the last step of this technique is to rub steel wool around the edges and random patches on the surface; this mattes the finish creating what looks like rubbed/worn areas of the varnish.
